EMX units are all wire in and in a Light blue and grey case.
G1 wire in units are in a green and white case LEM has a 17-pin main header on a single connector. Units with D42V4/5 firmware are PC tuneable.
LinkPlus units had a 3-connector loom. All units are PC tuneable
Plugin G1 units will be using all through hole components on a green PCB. Firmware versions with a q, r, s, t or later suffix are pc tuneable e.g. GTSq, WRXROADr.
G2 units were the first to start using surface mount components mixed in with through hole.
Almost all were LinkPlus G2’s. Green and white case with a 9pin serial connector on the opposite end to the main header.
There was a G2 plugin for the EVO 4-8 but only 25 are in existence.
G3 units moved to a Black and Silver case.
Available in LEM and LinkPlus. LEM had a single plug main connector and the LinkPlus a 4-position main connector.
There was also a G3 plugin to suit the WRX V7-9 these had a green PCB and almost all surface mount components.
Other plug-in applications were supported using adapter / patch harnesses.
G4 Gained a new enclosure and varying colours dependent on model. Plugins are on a black PCB.
All are labelled well with the model's name on the main sticker.
G4+ started with the same enclosures as the G4 later moving to a new much more stylish one all in black.
Again, all units will be clearly labelled.
G4x Retained the enclosure of the prior models but have updated labels to indicate X series.
